Brain on a chip could be used in the near future to test drugs

A new type of a microchip that contains a living brain and circulatory cells is designed to act like one tiny part of the human brain. Our device is designed to be the most realistic model of brain tissue developed in the lab so far said Anil Achyuta.

This brain-on-a-chip which is made with living cells taken from rats isn't imprinted with an electrical circuit unlike the microchips inside computers, cellphones and other gadgets. It is hope that it will be found helpful to study important brain functions and problems such as strokes or hardening arteries.
